We ordered a tent for the pickup for those times we may camp overnight at a trailhead without the trailer.
With an 8′ bed for the truck, we can have some storage boxes and room to sleep. We keep floor pads in there and will add sleeping pads as well. We made some modifications (added a fabric triangle) to help keep the open area at the corners next to the tailgate covered and maybe not allowing lots of mosquitoes in. We also used some plastic pipes to make a U to keep the corners of the tent up as it went further out than the window above the tailgate. This should make camping away from the trailer quite comfy and easy. We picked up some backpacking style seats to carry in the truck as well. Found them at Marden’s for 40% off the marked price. About 1/4 of the price of other brands online after the discount. Just couldn’t pass them up.
Got our trailer back today from getting new bearings and shackles. Stan found a broken brake wire and will take care of that tomorrow. I’ll start moving things in over the next week.
We got our permits already for the Coyote Buttes South. I had called the BLM office to ask about getting maps ahead of time and when I explained that we would be on the road and need to find a place to print the permits, they decided to send them to us ahead of time. So we have both of our dates in hand with 2 sets of maps. Well actually 3 maps as we also asked about going to White Pocket which is in the same area.
