Heading to the Delaware Water Gap

We started out with light rain and kept hitting rainy spots most of the morning. Breakfast and lunch at rest area among the big boys. Headed down the Delaware Water Gap on River Road and Old Mine Road. Rough road just like I remembered. Had one detour then ran into a closed gate which forced us the long way around to Worthington State Forest Campsite. On the way, Stan spotted a sign for Buttermilk Falls. Took a side road to check it out. Very narrow bridge plus a turn in the road. Found a parking area near an old cemetary. Saw markers on a tree and started up the trail. Finally enough cell coverage to see Tillman Falls was just a little ways up. A pretty hike along the stream and a nice small water fall. Great to get a hike in on a super warm afternoon. An April fool’s treat of 70s weather. The return over the bridge was much more difficult. Got a little help from a nice man to help direct Stan to align just right to get across. An interesting start to our adventures. Found out there was also a tornado warning for the area. Quite windy when we finally got to our site after 6pm.
